Not so Mighty Mouse.
Hands up those of you who love Apples Mighty Mouse.
Hmmm. I see not everyone's hand went up!
If your like me, and many others, and not totally enamored with Apples Mighty Mouse, there are many other options.
I've been a fan of Logitechs mice for some time. I currently use their VX Nano with my MacBook Pro. The wireless receiver is so small that I can leave it attached when I have to bag up my laptop for travel.
Feature wise, it has enough buttons for most of us, sips power so the batteries last a long time, and has a fantastic, free wheeling scroll wheel.
Because it is designed as a travel mouse, its ergonomics may not suite those who like to have there hands fully cradled, but I tend to be a fingertip mouser, so no complaints.
If you are in the market for a full size mouse, you can't go wrong with another Logitech offering, the fantastic MX Revolution.
It has a wonderfully supportive ergonomic shape, a nicely weighted, freewheeling scroll wheel, and plenty of buttons, including a nicely tactile, wheel like offering placed conveniently under your thumb.
The one major caveat with this mouse is t is shaped such that it would difficult, if not almost impossible to use this mouse left handed.
If you're going to spend some money on a great mouse, why use it on a cheap mouse pad?
Believe it or not, a good mouse pad does make a difference!
The best mouse pad that I have ever used, and the one that my wife uses every day, is the Ulti-Mat. It is unlike any mouse pad I have ever tried. Its construction is unlike any mouse pad I have seen, it's made from aluminum! After exploring the suitability of different materials, the makers of Ulti-Mat came to the conclusion that a metal pad would be best due to neat appearance and easy care. The mouse pad is made from a 2 mm thick metal plate with a non-stick DuPont Teflon coating that makes the Ulti-Mat more durable and slippery than a normal mouse pad. The non-stick coating is also scratch resistant in normal usage and the pad should stay clean and usable for many years.
You will be amazed how your mouse seems to glide without any effort using this pad.
To sum up, you've spent a lot of money on your Mac, don't skimp on your input device. Spend some money and you will truly enjoy the results.
